Figs, Figs, Glorious Figs!

Can any one tell me what type of figs these are? I went foraging in my neighbors trees this morning. The plan is to dehydrate them, and boy are they sweet and yummy.

Here is another shot in direct sunlight - the figs range in size from about 1.5" to 2.5" in diameter.
Here they are soaking in fresh water about 10 minutes after they were picked.
Getting ready to cut them in half for Drying - the racks are right behind the bowl.
This is the actual color!  Magenta People! The first time I cut one open I was so surprised! Not to mention, the taste is so sweet, not tart at all - these are loaded with tons of natural sugar!

Going into the dehydrator. Yum!

  1. Congratulations on the ribbons. You really worked hard and deserve all of them. The Okra looks great and those figs are wonderful. There are so many recipes for fig sauce and jams and tarts. :-)
